Stress Management

At Solution Focused Therapy Dublin stress management can help you with many aspects of stress reduction. We can help you to deal more effectively with stress and minimise and alleviate the effects; and to build your resilience and psychological well-being going forward.

What is Stress and how does it build up?

Stress is a response to events that happen in your life, and how you react to those events can have a bearing on your tolerance for the effects that stress can have on you. Factors such as your thinking style (how you react to things) can affect your resilience and tolerance level.

Each of the changes in life circumstances that you undergo has varying levels of stress attached to them, even though some of them may be positive experiences that you overall enjoy eg going on a holiday; they all carry a certain level of stress which can vary in degree from one person to another.

Stress can build up gradually if you have ongoing difficult circumstances, or it can result from a sudden change in your personal circumstances and how you react to this. Other factors that can affect your tolerance for stress are your life circumstances such as having friendship and a social network, having a sense of autonomy and control in your life and a good balance generally with a sense of meaning and purpose.

Stress Symptoms

Stress can affect your quality of life, including your physical health, your emotional health, your mental health, and how you think and behave; and it can have a negative impact on your relationships.
